Please join Heal the Bay and Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission for a presentation and discussion on our report entitled “Malibu Creek Watershed: Ecosystem on the Brink”. The Malibu Creek Watershed is the second largest watershed draining to the Santa Monica Bay and is one of the last watersheds in the area that has considerable amounts of natural habitat. Protecting water quality and biological resources in the Malibu Creek Watershed is paramount for protecting ecological conditions and allowing safe recreational use in the Santa Monica Bay.

This report is a comprehensive analysis of 12 years of data collected by Heal the Bay’s Stream Team and examines trends in watershed health. In the report, we assess the habitat, water quality, and the flora and fauna of the Malibu Creek Watershed. Despite minimal development in the watershed, we find evidence of degradation and make recommendations that will reverse the deterioration that we document.

We are excited to share our findings with the public, engage in discussion, and offer ways for individuals and groups to get involved and safeguard the health of the Malibu Creek Watershed. 

Directions: Diamond X is just off Mulholland Hwy at Wickland Rd. in Calabasas, 91302. Coming from Las Virgenes Rd, head east on Mulholland Hwy, traveling 0.8 miles to Wickland Rd. There will be a sign on your right with "Diamond X" and the National Park Service logo on it. Just after the sign, there is a narrow road that heads south at a right angle - turn right here at Wickland Rd. Follow Wickland Rd. about 300 yards until the road forks; stay to the left; keep bearing left to the lighted house on the right. Park and enter the building.
